Why do christians pray? [Spirituality & Religion]

According to the christian myth, their god has this great plan and always does what's best for us. Praying amounts to asking it to do something it hadn't thought of doing. Isn't it rather arrogant of them to presume they know better than their "almighty god"?

@faseny My prayers are usually just thanking God all day long. It is seldom I ask for things, because my faith is strong that God will help me. He knows my needs more than me.

@faseny
As a sailor I have in rare occasions been in appreciable danger and have called on god,
In situations like that, members of other religions no doubt call on their own gods. Many of us, with no particular religious affiliation, often call on the Great God Fuck - as in "Oh Fuck, what do we do now?" By the logic espoused by some christians, that is absolute, irrefutable, proof of the existence of the Great God Fuck.
@Carazaa that's actually a very nice mentality. We could all afford to be a little more thankful.
Carazaa · F
@froggtongue Well gee, I'm thankful you said that 🙂
@faseny you claim to survive those situations because of your faith. Others who survive those things may not have been of the same faith. As glad as I am that you have made it out okay, it can't be said it's because you prayed.
@Carazaa no problem. I might be secular, but that does not mean in any way that there is no moral framework we can't all try to achieve.

@faseny It was God! He had a plan for you! He helped you.

@faseny Jesus says " You can do nothing without me." He helps those who pray and he helps those who don't. Jesus is God and he rules, even Satan. But those who have faith get ALL their prayers answered. He says " Ask anything in my name and I will do it"John 12:12

No! It was The Flying Spaghetti Monster who reached out with Its Noodly Appendage to save them! r'Amen!

LOL! You forget, Satan thwarted your god's plan. Admittedly, He did enlist Eve's help.
Carazaa · F
@Sharon Jesus used Satan to test them!
Sharon · F
@Carazaa Rubbish! Your god was powerless to stop Satan.
Carazaa · F
@Sharon He tests people, who is faithful and who is not. Eternity waits for the faithful. "Jesus says many will fall away in the last days, don't fall asleep." He is coming back this generation, probably before 2028, and the great tribulation will probably start 7 years before that. Oxford scholar and others believe we are going to see him.

@Carazaa If you want to post your BS propaganda, start your own thread, don't pollute mine with it.
@Carazaa oh, so many fallacies. Lots of things are being done without your Jehovah. I'm breathing and living without your god as we speak and type. I'm typing without his help too.
But let's say your Yahweh was really the source behind my ability to breathe and live and type and murder. I would have to thank him for giving me the ability to kill other innocent people for without him, it could not happen. Or is this the point where you backstep and claim that murder has nothing to do with your god even when you just said he was in charge of everything? Your god either controls or at least allows your evil god Satan to do evil things, or your good god cannot control your evil god.
Helping those who pray and those who don't, huh? Then why pray or don't pray? Sounds like the same thing then.
@faseny my apologies. I did assume something about you and it was wrong.

@froggtongue God is all knowing, and he also gives us a choice to live our lives until he has had enough of our sins and then he sends us plagues, earthquakes, floods, fires, etc. He has started the birthpangs to the end, and it will "increase in intensity, and frequency", until he comes back to judge the living and the dead, this generation.

@faseny I know I make mistakes. I only pray that I'm strong enuff to admit them. 😄
@Carazaa why does your good god send your evil god to do his work when your good god knows already the answer. I'm starting to believe now. I'm believing you're really an atheist trolling all of us because there's no way you can keep spouting off this content and actually continue to believe it.
