Why do christians pray? [Spirituality & Religion]

According to the christian myth, their god has this great plan and always does what's best for us. Praying amounts to asking it to do something it hadn't thought of doing. Isn't it rather arrogant of them to presume they know better than their "almighty god"?

I keep saying I should read the whole anthology to know all the stories. Maybe we can start a Christian Bible study group. What do you guys say?

@froggtongue I Love it, love it love it! 🎀 🙏📯💖💖💖🙂
Sharon · F
@froggtongue A lot of former christians have read it, that's why they became Atheists. 👍
Carazaa · F
@Sharon You have not "studied" it for 30 years, you probably have read some verses and jumped to your own conclusons and think God is unfare, He is NOT! He is loving and wants us to be blessed!
Sharon · F
@Carazaa I admit I haven't studied it recently, it was some time ago. That was when I found it was just a collection of myths, mostly copied from older belief systems. You should try comparing it with other religions, you'll find that I'm right.
@Sharon shared culture might not be so bad if they admit that we're all humans and should treat each other as such instead of committing slavery and genocide.

@Sharon Comparing it to other religions? I have done just that. In college I read many books of many religions. Only Jesus died for humanitys sins. Only he created the universe!
@Carazaa okay. I have no reason to doubt any of those claims. But that still doesn't make it right for one man to enslave another nor to kill another.

Really? In that case I'm astounded that you somehow failed to see how just about everything in christianity is taken from older religions. Most religions have a creation story of some sort some claiming only your god "created the universe" just highlights your ignorance of the teachings of other religions. The story of the god manifest being sacrificed is another common theme, it's not unique to christianity.

Perhaps you should go back and read books published by other religions rather than take your misinformation from christian propaganda!
@froggtongue Ill have to pass. No thanks.
@BetweenKittensandRiots your loss. But you're going to miss the exciting finale that all your friends will talk about.
@froggtongue My friends? Nani? My friends don't give a shit about bible study for the most part.
Carazaa · F
@froggtongue Exactly,That's why we have the 10 commandments! And one is "you shall not murder"
@Carazaa unless you do so in the name of Yahweh. In which case, as many as you can.
