Yes, read some of Schopenhauer's work. Humanity is forever locked in a cycle, doomed to perpetuate itself. Wars, trade, invention and innovation all happen because they more efficiently distribute workload and resources, thus securing an easier existence for our offspring. The only way to free yourself is to realize this, and to understand why you suffer.
