Laying up treasure for yourself in Heaven [Spirituality & Religion]

Therefore it will be a wise person indeed who spends their little time given by God (for indeed it is tiny compared to eternity) here on earth, laying up treasure for themselves in heaven, passing up the pleasures of this world for delayed gratification in heaven, with Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour.

Not that I disagree, and you may not have the answers, but I've often wondered and felt like sharing my musings with you here.

Humans are here to be human - to fully live the human experience. That includes working, having a family, and maintaining oneself to survive, as well as learning through experience, making mistakes and experimenting to find one's way when so drawn. How does denying oneself of the pleasures associated with fully living increase one's candidacy for Heaven? Consider that active denial of one's instincts (or what have you) is nothing more than the hypocrisy of which Jesus the Christ warned.

A spiritual aspirant who attains becomes illumined. These beings, through the grace of the Infinite mind, become evolved beyond the human condition, in which they no longer share the drives and desires of the rest of the species despite human appearance. They become an instrument of Divine Will. Conversely, those who decide to take up a practice such as, just as an example, never engaging in sexual activity so they experience greater spirituality, are merely acting out of turn, and since Enlightenment is arranged from above, I'm not so sure that people can fake it till they make it.

Sometimes these considerations cross my mind.

@shaelan you need to remember that when you're in Christ you are not perfect but a work in progress but we at least have to try our best to do what is right

Life itself is a work in progress. :) @karysma
