why are we conscious? [Spirituality & Religion]

xinbaba · 61-69, M
because we ran out of whiskey
I believe we are the universe experiencing itself. Everything would be pointless if not for the abstract element of sentient perception. (pardon the redundant term)

Good question. I don't think science has exactly hit on a great answer yet...
But in my life I am always wondering why more of us are NOT!

Heh!!

Because we're not plants?

@puck61 It's not why are we not this not that. Our parents were compelled to breed, we are the result, the same way our children will be. We're multi celled organisms evolved enough to not only be conscious but also sentient, less dependent and affected by natural instincts.
@DrSunnyTheSkeptic Yes, but, ,,,,,Why are we not plants?

( I'm being rhetorical.) We are not plants because we do not fit the biological definition of a plant. We are not plants because, divinity or nature has made us humans.
My apologies. Probably too much coffee..........again.

@puck61
Why are we not plants?
That niche is taken, so we use a different way of making a living. Our way seems to involve destroying every other niche we don't think we need.

What could possibly go wrong with that?
