What the Bible says about The Book of Life, and why your name should be in it. [Spirituality & Religion]

The Book of Life (also called, “The Lamb’s Book of Life”) is a record containing the names of those who have repented of their sins, turned from them, and have chosen to accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior (having a spiritual rebirth). In other words, the Book of Life is the names of the redeemed—those who will live with God forever in heaven.

“I will never blot out his name from the Book of Life, but will acknowledge his name before my Father and his angels” (Revelation 3:5).

In this verse, we learn that born-again believers will be clothed in white (a symbol of purity) as their name is acknowledged to God. To have our names included, we must have Jesus forgive us of our sins. Why Jesus? Because He is the only One who can give us access to our Heavenly Father. He is our only Mediator between God and man. This means that those who reject Christ’s salvation will not be included.

Revelation 21:27 states, “Nothing impure will ever enter it [heaven], nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life.”

It is very simple to have your name recorded in the Book of Life. To do so, it is important to understand that we are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory for God.”

Sin means that we have missed the mark (that is, God’s perfect standard which He set for us.) We don’t set the standard ... God does. Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death, BUT.... good news!... the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Thank God the message doesn’t end there! Christ died for us. Romans 5:8 says, “But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ [Jesus] died for us.” Jesus died in our place. Three days later, Jesus rose from death, proving that sin had been conquered.

The great news is that you can be saved by grace (unearned favor from God...not earned or worked for) through faith in Christ. Ephesians 2:8-9 says, “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the GIFT of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” You can depend on Jesus to forgive you, and give eternal life, rather than eternal death.

Having your name in the Book of Life ensures you all the eternal blessings. So...is your name written in the Book of Life? If not, it’s not too late to take time to talk to God. In fact, He’s waiting to hear from you. If you like, you can express to Him, your desire to be a part of His family.

Receiving Jesus is a matter of asking Him to come into your life, to forgive you of your sins, and to become your Lord and Savior. It’s not merely an intellectual undertaking, but rather, an act of sincere faith and heart-felt will. It’s up to you.

Yes, but none of those can get you to heaven, either, when you die, and every one of us has an appointment (and whether people [b]believe[/b] that or not, won’t change God’s plans) to stand before God and give account of how we did things, and what we said, how we treated people, and including why they mocked God. Everyone will keep that appointment. What they think they get by with down here, they’ll answer for, in Heaven. God won’t be mocked. He said in His Word, “The fool says in his heart, there is no God.” Psalms 14. Many mock God and make fun of Him, and even deny Him, without even knowing Him. That’s really bad judgment, because God said He will judge us, according to how we judged Him, and others. I sincerely hope you’ll think on the above mentioned things, before you determine whom you’ll serve, God or Satan, because that’s the most important decision you’ll ever make in your entire life...because that single decision, determines where you’ll spend eternity. That’s a long time if you get it wrong.
