You are valuable and unique in this universe. Here’s how your spirit can reconnect with God’s. [Spirituality & Religion]

When God made the heavens, the waters upon the earth, the animals, and the fowl in the sky, He said “It is good.”

Then the conversation in the Godhead (the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) turned to...“Let us make mankind in our own image, and proclaimed the creation of mankind, “very good.” That’s the first time those words are used. Up until that point, everything was “good”, and then in the vastness of this universe, God placed his crown-jewel of all creation...man and woman... and it was “very good”, and He endowed us with dominion and authority.

Scripture tells us that “God is spirit“ in John chapter 4, verse 24. Therefore, He exists without a body. However, Adam’s body did mirror the life of God, as it was created in perfect health and was not subject to death. The image of God refers to the immaterial part of humanity. It sets human beings apart from the animal world, for dominion over them and the earth, and enables us to commune with our Maker. We are also unique, in that we have moral capacity, and an immaterial spirit.

“And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the spirit of life; and man became a living soul.“ Genesis 2:7) With our spirit, we are in contact with God. With our soul, we are in contact with people. Man didn’t become a living soul, until the spirit entered his body. The soul is our life, the result of the union of body and spirit. The intention was that God would lead us by our spirit; but then the fall came, and sin separated us from God. Man became flawed by his own desire, not by God, and began to live according to the lusts in his body. The consequence of sin leads to separation from God, because the spirit in man, became a slave to all sorts of sin in the flesh. We can see the results of the fall, by all the corruption we see in the world. (2 Perter 1:4) Sin corrupts the spirit of man, separating him from God, who is Holy.

Today, we still bear the image of God, but we also bear the scars of sin. Mentally, morally, socially, and physically, we show the effects of sin. God the Father is so Holy, he cannot even look at sin, so it’s not allowed in heaven. Heaven wouldn’t BE heaven, if there was sin in it. The good news, is that when we repent (decide to turn away from leading a sinful life) and ask Jesus to forgive us of our sins, He does so. You are never so sinful that God would turn you away, or reject you in any way. Having repented, and redeemed by the blood of Jesus, who paid for our sins, we are then reunited in fellowship with our Father in heaven, and are made “new creations in the likeness of God, once more.” (2 Corinthians 5:17) God wants to lead your spirit to peace and rest. Will you let Him?
