I Like Funk

They were playing at a small club in Boston in like 1988 and I was psyched.
The place was full of people standing around.
I had a few of their records and knew what we were in for.
So I limbered up and stretched during the set up and sure enough,from the first note-
it was ON!
I careened all over and got down with my bad self,full electrical discharge,total psychic revamp,sweaty goofiness.
The band naturally was into this and I got nods and grins from Mr.Bowie and posse.
The rest of the crowd was kind of in awe or otherwise not immediately engaged to pack the floor,so it was my idiot self strutting and getting all boneless for the first few numbers,every tune a monster rendition.Tightness,great grooves.
They either opened with this tune or might have been the D-D-Funkt chant,I don't exactly recall;but from the first fanfare it was the real deal and it was continuous frenzied motion on my part.unh. !
At some point I either ruined my shoes or was too fonkay for shoes because I do recall walking back through sleepy Somerville barefoot and some guy told me to put some shoes on but I was still pretty wrung from the show and in no way agreed with his opinion.
I've had other opportunities to dance and wreck shoes and sweat it out since then.
