… has universal, single-payer health care that is free or nearly free

… pays for prescription medications for those who can’t afford it

… doesn’t have significant gun problems

… welcomes refugees

… is very LGBTQ friendly, both in law, and in the way most people think

… is generally racially tolerant and culturally inclusive

… has a sane prime minister

… does not deny climate change

… has political parties in its furthest right that would never consider defunding healthcare or social security or teaching creationism in school

… has political parties that in the US would be considered, far left, extreme left, and radical left

… has independent (civilian) review boards for homicides involving police

… pay cops anywhere from 2-3x what most US cities pay cops (high 5 figures to low 6 figures), which means that cops actually care about their jobs, and the police force can recruit well-qualified people

… has a much more progressive income tax system that taxes wealthy individuals and companies a lot more, as well as consumers (higher sales and property taxes) to pay for it all

… has stronger beer
