I am embarrassed to be British sometimes.

Its been quietly reported that the UK government suggested targeting the Russian military in Syria but luckily got overuled - and probably laughed at - by the rest of the G7. For all the talk of Trump being crazy (which he kinda is) its Boris Johnson and Thereasa May who have come with the most nuts and dangerous idea yet. Ww3? No thanks.

Can't imagine why one would be embarrassed to be British 😂.

I've been embarrassed ever since Boris Johnson's press conference with John Kerry. Kerry is a skilled diplomat and seeing Johnson side-by-side with him was revelatory.

Boris Johnson needs to realise fairly sharpish that his words are no longer just tomorrow's chip paper, as they used to be. Lives hang in the balance. Perhaps more than he imagines.

I remember seeing that. It was just after Brexit and Kerry didn't even bother to hide his contempt for Johnson at the press conference.

Yes he's got to the place his is by being a charming chancer. He is exactly the last person who should be in charge of dangerous foreign policy situation, or indeed Brexit negotiations.

Yes, it was just a matter of weeks after the vote. There was a point where Kerry said something like, "I'm told that Boris Johnson was well-regarded at Oxford and seen as intelligent, and that's the Boris Johnson I seek to hold discussions with", i.e. not this fool standing to my right, who publicly insults world leaders.

Why would you be embarrassed to be British though? You guys are very polite and nice people who have tea time almost everyday.
May and Johnson I am very worried about.I remember her responding with great enthusiasm when asked if she would use nuclear weapons.Attacking Russian troops would be plain stupid as would Trump wading into North Korea.Dangerous times,
But ashamed to be British? Not really.

Quite how Johnson got to within ten feet of the front bench is something of a question.
One suspects low friends in high places !
Targeting Russia ? Who was going to target them...with what ? That does sound like a daft idea.
Oh well. At least we survived THAT one in the current climate of daft ideas !

It's been years that British foreign policy is too close to American interests, but sadly it happens to almost every country in western Europe, only France with Chirac moved somewhat away from it.

Absolutely. My own country is a US puppet state in foreign policy terms. We are even dancing to their old tune after the music has changed.

The man is Foreign Secretary but I wouldn't trust him with a water pistol.

May is an insane megalomaniac.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
Yep but the UK media bend over backwards to present her as centrist and sensible.
