Well done Jeremy Corbyn

The Labour leader has been heavily criticised by the UK establishment but his free school meals plan is an excellent policy. Its nice to talk about the issues for once and his detractors are kidding themselves if they think that something like this would have come from a non-left Labour leadership.

How can someone on £16,000 NOT be able to afford school meals, under the current system?

@tynamite: Because Government spending goes back to the people in one way or another. The state is our biggest employer and it pays for a lot of services. If you cut that then people will have less money to spend in shops.

@Burnley123: The government taxing money it gives to the public sector doesn't generate any tax revenue.

@tynamite: Obviously. Not my point. 😜
If capitalism is consensual sex then socialism is rape. How is it fair that one family works hard and has to pay for their kids meals and some slackers kids too. Welfare is robbing the taxpayer

That analogy is abysmal but I'll deal with your point. Everyone working works hard. Should a child who has two low-income parents be disadvantaged by not being born middle-class? I also think that private schools should be taxed because they are not actually charities.

Wonder how Kez will take it. Scottish Labour have been very much against free school meals for years.
This is a great initiative. Cameron's free meals for infants has proven very successful, especially in inner city areas. For some kids it is the only decent meal they get in a day.
