I commonly hear the phrase "Corporations are people and money is speech" in American politics.

If money is speech, and American citizens have the right to free speech by the Constitution, does that mean Americans have the right to free money?

IF that were true,, ( money=speech) then that would mean your freedom of speech increases with the money you have. I dont think that is what was meant for.
"Corporations are people" is another Debacle created by a conservative court. it IS true they were created to shield people from the consequences of their bad choices, and illegal acts, by creating a fictionl entity, as tho a person, to take the hit when things go bad

Nope...but they have a right to build a corporation...and get lots of earned money. And then maybe a bit more speech. :)

@PissAndVinegar Money is power (there is other power of course ie Jesus).

that is the dominant belief of most of our nation's Stupid People.
and of course those with money, and those hidden by corporations, and all those that serve them

money is not speech, it is Force, energy. And traditionally the use of force on weaker persons is considered a Bad Thing. Extortion, robbery, theft, you know, the regular goings on of all those criminal gangs that we call governments

How is money speech? I've heard of time being money- but speech is money? Oh, you mean money talks! 😁

@PissAndVinegar: I hear people can "trade" the food stamps for cash. So sad
