What are your thoughts?
I was made aware of a group of people today (I have no idea who they are) who will be voting for Trump, but for a different reason. They believe the kind of change that our country truly needs will only result from a disastrous failure. (Like burning the grass to make it grow back greener) They see Trump as that failure. I guess the disaster will get people worked up or something, pretty much forcing the change that we need. I'm not sure, honestly. Do you believe this, or know anyone who does? How do you/they think it will work?

Its an idea with a long history and its called accelerationism. The ides that you enhance the contradictions to bring about a crisis and then have the chance to build something better.

Lenin was kind of a proponent and a lot of people have tried this since. Three big problems though:

1) A crisis means change can happen but a crisis is tough. There is also no guarantee that things will get better and not worse. People who say now is as bad aa it can get have an awful tendency of being proven wrong.

2) People who support this strategy make themselves complicit with the problems. Why wpuld people listen to them after this?

3) The nationalist right, not the left, is best positioned to take advantage of crisis given the balance if forces and institutional strength, in America and globally. The left needs time to build, if it is to have any chance at all.

So in short, your friends have a really bad strategy.

[@422868,Burnley123] Thanks
[@422868,Burnley123] Thank you! That was an excellent response. I had never considered those points.

There was an argument like that last time around
[@874702,TaoTeChing] This is the first I've heard about it.

[@1156195,InkBot] Susan Saradon spoke about it. Not necessarily vote for him, but that it might be better if he gets in because the whole thing needs to be deconstructed and rebuilt

I think that's why he won last time, or part of it..not sure how that's really going to work if you burn the house down and the people inside.

[@1156195,InkBot] it's always been that people are sick of gov.
[@868864,HannahSky] I'm not proud to abmit this, but about 10 years ago, I didn't know what a Republican or Democrat was. I knew nothing about politics or social issues. I was devoutly religious and brainwashed. Luckily my wife freed me from all that, and I learned a lot from her. So, from my personal perspective, it seems that way. You're right, but these last 4 years have really been something else.

[@1156195,InkBot] I'm glad you're informed now and yes these last 4 have been nuts.

So, the first term didn’t already demonstrate that failure?

Two parties that are fighting against one another without the nation’s best interests in mind.

Point has been proven.

Let’s elect grandpa and then figure out who we really want to lead the country in 4 years.

Ah yes, the accelerationists. Tbh I’m not sure to the extent I buy their spiel.

Wouldn't be unheard of.
Election 1: Elect the 'Horseman of the apocalypse'
Have him create fear and uncertainty by putting questionable people in charge and destabilize all the systems that are seen to need 'reform'

Election 2: Start that reform by undermining existing systems; change personnel with power at the top by suggesting you have a 'mandate for change'.

Election 3: Put in place specially groomed Presidential candidate backed by Soros/Gates/Pinchai/ continue agenda
[@448576,Picklebobble2] I think that's the heart of the problem. No one said, "Okay, we want Trump and Biden!" That's just who we ended up with. Who the hell picked those guys!
Picklebobble2 · 51-55, M
[@1156195,InkBot] Yeah where are the clever business people ? Where are the sharp accountants ? Where are the 'idealists' ?
[@448576,Picklebobble2] You know sometimes people see some random person on YouTube or some place, and they're like, "Make this guy president!" Well, maybe they are onto something.
