@Darksideinthenight2 The death rate has declined because high-risk people are shielding now and they didn't during the first wave. The second wave will be brutal though.

@Darksideinthenight2 A million dead people worldwide, and 220,000 dead Americans, disagree with you. And there are many people who suffer debilitating and long-term effects even if they survive. The virus isn't overhyped. It is a deadly pandemic we need to diligently pay attention to, even when people like you do not.

@Darksideinthenight2 You shouldn't be allowed to deliberately infect other people who may die. Your rights don't Trump theirs.

@Darksideinthenight2 The numbers are increasing every day due to Trump's deliberate actions to kill Americans. Your total lack of compassion for others is noted when lives can be saved. Heaven forbid it should interfere with your bar time.

@Darksideinthenight2 European countries were hit much earlier than America and Germany was no exception. They will end the process with a lot less death and a lot less economic damage than Britain or America.

In your country, you have had 220,000 dead out of how many infected? 10%? 15%. Assuming that herd immunity even works and does hit at 60%, you are looking at about a million avoidable deaths and a pandemic at large for two years by the end. That is with most high-risk people shielding... for two years.

Meanwhile, in Germany, life is returning somewhat to normal because they had a sensible approach based on science and only a small minority with the same attitude as yourself.

@Darksideinthenight2 I pointed out that perhaps a million people could die in America. Yes, you will say; that is out of 330 million people. Its still one in thirty of your population. It means that everyone will personally know a few people who have died by the end.

@Darksideinthenight2 We have learned more about the virus, and developed better ways of dealing with victims. Your callous disregard for human life through what you call a "realist" attitude to allow hundreds of thousands to several million Americans to die so you aren't inconvenienced is appalling.

@Darksideinthenight2 Im being generous with the two years. Of course it could last longer but not in Germany.

@Darksideinthenight2 "Only" 220k died, because we took painful and widespread pandemic measures, even if they were handicapped by disorganization and lack of unity. Without such measures, you'd be seeing exponential growth with all that entails.

@Darksideinthenight2 Over 220,000 Americans have died so far, and we have an estimated 10% of the population that has been infected. If it takes 60% or 70% for herd immunity, do the math. That would be well over 1,000,000 American dead. I know that doesn't matter to you in any way, shape, or form, but it does matter to caring Americans.

The third wave is setting up to be the worst by far, because we are starting off at an already high level, and with at least a third of the nation following the Trump cult and refusing to wear masks or social distance, we are in for more catastrophe.

Would you say that 9/11 was meaningless and overblown, because so few people died?

Would you say that Vietnam was meaningless and overblown, because only 50,000 or 60,000 Americans died? That's such a small and insignificant part of the population, isn't it?

Would you say the American dead in WWII didn't really matter and was overblown, because it was just a small percentage of the population, wasn't it? And people die all the time. Nothing to worry or care about, as long as you can keep living your life. Who cares about the dead or other people?
