A divisive 4th of July like never before

So while Trump's looking for the most spectacular way to drive home his tone-deaf bias and disregard by holding an extravaganza at the foot to Mt. Rushmore, he's also got some holiday weekend plans brewing elsewhere:
As President Donald Trump ramps up his hard-line rhetoric against protesters, The Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday it is launching rapid deployment teams to federal monuments over the Fourth of July weekend.

The effort comes in the wake of nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody in May -- many of which have targeted Confederate and other statues and monuments.
Because statues. That's the great American Crisis at the moment. No relief or assistance for a pandemic that's suffocating this country, no addressing militarized police forces where racists bullies are free to hide, no dealing with social inequities. Statues.

I have never so fervently prayed for Autumn.

He's been doing dozens of tweets, with pictures of people at the scene of various protests, where statues may have been damaged, asking people to help identify them.

The dimwit is encouraging vigilantes and what may follow.

@Northwest He is an internet troll gone wild. That's his primary occupation. Being president for the 40% is a sideline.

I’m probably not going to do a thing for the Fourth of July this year.

@SmartKat It will be a normal weekend day for me. Probably some gardening and yard work since it is a weekend.

@SmartKat Between covid, rain and lava-humidity, I'm thinking it'll be quiet here. too. The city is televising a fireworks display, though, which I think is kinda nice.

@SmartKat I'm fortunate to have family nearby and we will likely all gather and have a barbecue is all. No fireworks, parks, firework shows, etc... Frankly I got tired of the big celebrations in my area around the age of 22.
But the weather has been bad too, hot, humid, rain and thunderstorms so who knows. 🎆

Lest we not forget the day to day violence in urban areas - in a city like Chicago for example - where over 150 people have been shot since Father's Day weekend including a 12 and 3 year old fatally....and it's going to be a hot 4th of July w-end there so expect the numbers to double. Somehow, that should be written into the narrative as well don't you agree? To me, that chronic violence should take priority over what occurred 150 years ago. Just a thought....thank you.
Isn't it nice that he's having a party, though?
