The threat to Ukraine is if they don't appease Trump, there's a Russian bear next door to make their lives more miserable.

Trump's call is what apparently has triggered the whistle-blower complaint.

This story has serious legs.

Recall that Trump ally Rudy Giuliani was going to head to Ukraine earlier this year on a political-dirt gathering mission.

It's a serious thing enough about a president engaging with a foreign leader to dig up dirt on that president's political opponents.

But in this case it apparently adds an "or else" to the "request."

People do know, though. Leaks are prevalent there and that sounds quite detailed and not unbelievable.
