Just when you thought Trump 'policies' were at their dumbest..

...Something comes along that is just that bit more idiotic. This one wasn't mentioned by the WH (No real surprises there, they've been pre-occupied with trying to protect Trump from the law) so it's left to the AP to bring it out.
(AP) — Conserving oil is no longer an economic imperative for the U. S. , the Trump administration declares in a major new policy statement that threatens to undermine decades of government campaigns for gas-thrifty cars and other conservation programs

Growth of natural gas and other alternatives to petroleum has reduced the need for imported oil, which “in turn affects the need of the nation to conserve energy,” the Energy Department said. It also cites the now decade-old fracking revolution that has unlocked U.S. shale oil reserves, giving “the United States more flexibility than in the past to use our oil resources with less concern.”

With the memo, the administration is formally challenging old justifications for conservation — even congressionally prescribed ones, as with the mileage standards. The memo made no mention of climate change. Transportation is the single largest source of climate-changing emissions.

President Donald Trump has questioned the existence of climate change, embraced the notion of “energy dominance” as a national goal, and called for easing what he calls burdensome regulation of oil, gas and coal, including repealing the Obama Clean Power Plan.

Despite the increased oil supplies, the administration continues to believe in the need to “use energy wisely,” the Energy Department said, without elaboration. Department spokesmen did not respond Friday to questions about that statement.

Reaction was quick.

“It’s like saying, ‘I’m a big old fat guy, and food prices have dropped — it’s time to start eating again,’” said Tom Kloza, longtime oil analyst with the Maryland-based Oil Price Information Service.
Use it up is the mantra. After all Trump won't be around when it is so why would he care anyway?

@HerKing and this is why herking should not post without stabilizing meds.

@jackjjackson Oh bullshit baffles brains, only it seldom works with judges and the prosecution.. it's called perjury. That's the dilemma..the Trump circus tell the truth, they're fucked. Lie, they're still fucked. Thought it was funny today how Trump described John Dean as a rat...presumably because he eventually told the truth that resulted in Nixon resigning...but then Article 2 says referring to POTUS: "He shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed". So no issue with Don McGahn telling Mueller things..Trump thinks McGahn is his personel lawyer. Oops.
jackjjackson · 61-69, M
You’re in dreamland re McGahn. You miss what this is about. Like the issues with WJC the issue is political not legal. Thr dems lost this politcal war just like they lost the 2016 election and continuing to lose this war instead of trying to win the midterms will result in the Republicans controlling the House and Mrs Pelosi deposed and in the back row scheduling addition Botox and plastic surgery appointments. IF I wanted to help you I would suggest that you put your energy into the next thing @HerKing]

This is how boomers as a whole seem to operate. "It doesn't directly affect me so I don't care."

@Doomflower I agree. I see this all the time.

1 fracking wastes millions of litres of water, it gets pumped deep underground, but nobody's going to run out of water, right? 2 polluting the air with millions more tons of greenhouse gases is good for the future health of humans and the planet, pretty sure trump would agree with that

I like that last statement by Tom Kloza. I think he really hit a homerun with that one. Alot of people have that attitude about energy and pollution unfortunetly. 😒
