@MichaelJT can I buy some pot from you?

@MichaelJT if you're done with your 13 year old juvenile rant, some facts.

Trump sworn not to build or refurbish any plane at all:
Boeing is building a brand new 747 Air Force One for future presidents, but costs are out of control, more than $4 billion. Cancel order!
He further said:
“We want Boeing to make a lot of money, but not that much money”
And after all that Boeing essentially called him a liar:
@Boeing says it only has a $170M deal with @usairforce to help with requirements for new Air Force One
So what's wrong is it Trump is now spending more money than ever on work he swore he would never do. Those facts hurt in your head?

You're just upset because she has more balls than your President.😉@MichaelJT

@Graylight Since you don't do math very well, two planes at $3.9 million is a better deal than one plane at $4 million. I'm not entirely sure how you missed that since you're so concerned with facts.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Sicarium Right. Let's just see who's got the info right as the project gets under way.

After all, Trump's math was only off by a factor of 100 on the new embassy in Jerusalem.

@Graylight Lol...I was using the numbers you provided... You said it a was fact at the time. Funny how that works.
Boeing finalizes $3.9-billion deal for two new Air Force One planes

A year and a half after President Trump first blasted the cost of the presidential planes as “out of control,” aerospace giant Boeing Co. has officially landed the $3.9-billion contract for the next generation of Air Force One jumbo jets.

The contract, announced by the U.S. Air Force on Tuesday, will include detailed design, modification, testing and certification of the two 747-8 jumbo jets.

The announcement comes five months after the White House said it reached an “informal deal” with Chicago-based Boeing to pay $3.9 billion for the aircraft. At that time, Deputy Press Secretary Hogan Gidley said Trump’s negotiations saved taxpayers more than $1.4 billion, a claim that was repeated in a statement Wednesday from the White House.

But an aviation analyst has said the new Air Force One planes were always expected to cost about $4 billion. And Defense Department budget estimates for fiscal year 2019 project that the Air Force One program will cost about $3.95 billion through fiscal year 2023.
I'll wait for the 'fake news' protest.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@Graylight And...you're point is what exactly? That there's a contract on the table for two planes at $3.9 billion? Because that's already been established...
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Sicarium I'm not going to explain the thread to you. There never was "one plane at 4 million."
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@Graylight Lol...again, I used the "facts" you gave.

@ImDone Aircraft flying much, much more frequently have been in the air for 20 years.

But what's the point you're making here? That flying is expensive? Yup. My point was that Trump never wanted any plane he currently touts and no doubt will have his name affixed to.
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@Graylight Ah, so now you're an expert on aviation. Interesting.
Graylight · 51-55, F
@Sicarium Why does one have to be an expert in aviation to know readily available facts?

Do you feel a special compulsion to start fights?
Sicarium · 46-50, M
@Graylight Ok, then tell me the maintenance cycle of Air Force One.

I'm not starting a fight, I'm calling you on your bullshit. There's a difference. Do you feel a special compulsion to deflect every direct question?

@Sicarium
Ok, then tell me the maintenance cycle of Air Force One.
Graylight may not be an aviation expert or even enthusiast. But I have had a lifelong interest (almost obsession) with aircraft. I also know full size pilots and a few current and former aerospace engineers (Some who worked for Boeing) who really know their stuff when it comes to such things and when Trump made his announcement about spiraling costs and cancelling the order I asked what Boeing might do to cut costs; And one retired engineer actually said to me, "Re model existing airframes, but in the long run it won't be cheaper because VC25A (The actual designation of the 747; AF1 is the call sign)" is like no other 747. Most of it is highly classified and even the guys who build it don't know everything about it for security reasons"

So whatever Trump thinks (I know it's asking too much) the 'deal' is, it will be a potential clusterfuck because the existing wiring etc will have to be ripped out to get down to the frames to remodel it. It isn't the same as just putting new covers on car seats or a new air filter on the intake manifold. And it all has to be certified and cleared just like any other aircraft.

Trump really has no idea what it is he's talking about. No big surprises there.
