Why can't Trump disavow the Charlottesville neo-Nazi carnage?

I don't normally agree with Mathew d'Acncona, but this article is superb and nails it:

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2017/aug/13/charlottesville-white-supremacists-donald-trump

I am more than happy to agree with a moderate Conservative like d'Ancona or moderate Democrats like Viginia's Governor Terry Macauliffe and attack the extreme right; unlike Donald Trump. I could quote the whole article but here is a taste:
Only last week he (Trump) threatened a distant dictator with “fire and fury”. Yet, confronted with homegrown bigotry and its violent consequences, he dons the kid gloves of a politician anxious not to upset the militant wing of his base.

It is hard to say how far he shares the alt-right convictions of his chief strategist, Steve Bannon, who believes that the essence of American identity is Judaeo-Christian nationalism and that this identity is in mortal peril. But, as candidate and president, he has been quite happy to surf on a tide of white resentment, careful not to disavow strongly the support of extremists and bigots.
Absolutely f*cking SHAMEFUL !!!!!!!
Both the perpetrators of this mess and the idiots who were 'supposed' to be upholding AND enforcing the law !

Trump is a puppet we know that's the 'deal with the Devil' he made when he was given the Republican seal of approval as their candidate.
So it's become 'unfair' to criticize him for EVERYTHING that's going on there because you don't know for certain WHO exactly is running the country, and what/whose policy is being followed.

But to not make a clear and concise condemnation of this act of hatred merely leaves the door open for these thugs, and others, to move on to the next place they try and terrorize !

Today it was ONE town, tomorrow suppose it's three or four ?
Suppose this is the far right's plan to go from one place to another causing chaos and pain across the south thereby enabling 'the powers that be' to create draconian laws limiting ordinary people's rights or freedoms ?

This situation could and SHOULD have been killed 200 years ago !
The fact that it's gone from midnight lynchings to daylight mass murder via a vehicle shows that there is NOTHING holding those with such hatred in the South to account.

A very VERY sad day for humanity !

Trump won't disown the white supremacists because enjoys their support. Dude will burn down the country if he can get a bump in his approval rating.

“We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides, on many sides," the president said. "It has been going on for a long time in our country -- not Donald Trump, not Barack Obama. “It has been going on for a long, long time. It has no place in America."

He said this before the driver was even identified....

@Burnley123 Trump speaks of the bitterness of the grand scheme, and fights did break out between individuals during the course of events.

@goliathtree other than being wrong, you're right. 🙄 Check out Marco Rubio's statement.

And Ted Cruz, even Ted Cruz. @luckranger71
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
They.... and the Russians, are the last part left of his base.
Burnley123 · 41-45, M
@luckranger71 With respect that is a slightly different issue.
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@Burnley123 : In the pure US political sense, yes. But overall, he owes everything to the considerable US racist population and the Russians. Without it he's still bilking contractors.

They are completely different things. North Korea is, or is believed to be, a threat to the US. Even if some people involved in Charlottesville were "extremists and bigots" - aka people you disagree with - there is simply no parallel.

And, of course, General Lee was a great man.

And, of course, d'Ancona is a leftie!

Cheers
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
@MartinII : General Lee was a traitor to the United States of America. If you think different, I'd love the booze you're drinking.

I never said there was. I said that there was a difference in Trump's reaction. As does the article.
And, of course, d'Ancona is a leftie!
He is a Conservative Party supporter and personal friends with David Cameron!
MartinII · 70-79, M
@Burnley123 Contrasting Trump's reaction to North Korea on the one hand, violence at a demonstration on the other, makes no sense unless you see some parallel between the two.

Sadly, being a supporter of the Conservative Party is no guarantee that one is not a leftie!
I am reading that article now.

@LunadelobosIAMTHEDRAGON Thanks. Let me know what you think.
@Burnley123 I have very many feelings and some thoughts on this:

Incredulity and sadness, rage, also, that people elected him.

I suppose, the same goes for when innocent lives are harmed. I feel more rage actually; and utter incomprehension..HOW???WHY???.......this is happening AGAIN???
(like a solider going to battle).

I am fairly great at protecting my own.
Not as great at protecting myself, but, that's a different post :)

Like a very very bad dream
is this reality to me.

Why can't they just step into reality and out of the nightmare???

And , so many seem to like to live in this nightmare:
THE DEFINITION OF INSANITY....

Ok, now I feel like crying
a huge bear hug
and eating some strawberry Häagen-Dazs!
In that order.

@RippinKlouds I don't think Trump agrees with the NAZIs but some people who are NAZIs like Trump and he does not disown them.
