Have you smoked cigarettes, quit then have the urge to do it again?

It's me right now. It's cold and I've been thinking of going back to the habit. I don't know.

Don't do it.
You will feel shit about yourself if you do. Think of the regrets later.
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@85866,Doomflower] i always feel good while I'm doing it, but feel shit after every stick.
HannahSky · F
Took several years to completely quit. Became less and less though and never the same as when I smoked all the time.
HannahSky · F
[@352154,GunFinger] usually something motivates people, luckily. I felt like it was the something to do more than the nicotine after I quit, in my 20s.
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@868864,HannahSky] i started at 18 or 19 then quit at 34.
HannahSky · F
[@352154,GunFinger] good age to quit, by your 30's, after seems like it'd be much tougher.
KimmyGary · 31-35, F
I agree with Doom dont do it
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@335152,KimmyGary] I'm still contemplating.
i have a sudden urge to puff a gasper right now..
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@327405,TheOneyouwerewarnedabout] same here. I just want to have a stick.
kaybeeembarrassed · 26-30, F
The horrific nicotine gum actually worked
royalblue1193 · 26-30, M
Never smoked but sounds tough
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@526651,royalblue1193] don't. Just take good care of your health.
eyeno · M
Yup.., and I'm the loser for doing it again.
Eddiesolds · 56-60, M
Please dont start again. It's bad. I smoke. Your arent missing anything. Grab a piece of gum instead
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@438210,Eddiesolds] thank you. I'm trying to hold back from it.
Eddiesolds · 56-60, M
[@352154,GunFinger] They are so expensive there. It's just a waste of money.plus you're hurting yourself. Good luck!
Yes, I tried and failed dozens of times before I finally quit back In 2004.. You can do this
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@435994,MightyAphrodite] thank you.
DropTopDig · M
I quit for 3 years, met my xwife who smoked & got me started again, then I quit again for about 6 years & had a coworker piss me off so bad I started again. I was tired of doing my job and half of his.
It will pass. If you can’t let it go, make it go. Going back would be terrible. You’ll feel like crap again. You’re strong. You’ve been off of them this long. You will remain off of them.
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@604557,stratosranger] thank you.
You were strong enough to quit and stay off of them this long. You will continue to do so. This too shall pass. Don’t fear your own strength. Embrace it. You are more than your addiction. You will see. [@352154,GunFinger]
MilitantIrishman · 26-30, M
I never seem to have too much trouble quitting. I'm not sure why. Maybe because I've quit worse stuff before
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@8731,MilitantIrishman] I went cold turkey at 34. If I do start and decide to quit I hope it won't be hard.
MilitantIrishman · 26-30, M
[@352154,GunFinger] hopefully not but it is a risk so be careful. Its a bad habit to get back into
Nah, I smoked for about six months in 2009-2010 but I was never a big fan of the way they made me smell.
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@1218,theperplexedpanda] they stay on your clothes, furnitures and your breath.
[@352154,GunFinger] Yup! And the effect wasn't worth it for me haha. I was only giving it a shot because I was dating someone that smoked them. 🤔
summersong · F
I started smoking again last fall after quitting for 13 years. Now I have to quit all over again
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@334441,summersong] are you trying to quit again?
summersong · F
[@352154,GunFinger] not yet, just cutting down right now but I need to soon.
Rutterman · 41-45, M
Yes. After I quit, I still had the urge to smoke and it persisted for quite a while. What helped me get through it was nicotine gum. Others have used nicotine patches and lozenges with great success. Might not work for everyone, but they're worth a try if you're having trouble staying off tobacco.
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@121363,Rutterman] thank you so much.
Rutterman · 41-45, M
[@352154,GunFinger] You're welcome. Best of luck to you in remaining tobacco-free.
Elegy · 41-45
I have and I did but stroke said don't and now I wont. 😂
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
I smoked heavy for 20 yrs...a pack to two packs a day. Quit 21 years ago.

Go do something. Anything. Get busy. You have to distract that desire. Its easy.

I promised myself, if I have one more cigarette, I will never quit again.
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@488176,LunarOrbit] I need to exercise more or think of a hobby atleast.
LunarOrbit · 56-60, M
[@352154,GunFinger] No better time than now.

Good luck. ♥️
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@488176,LunarOrbit] thank you.
Bang5luts · 46-50, M
No! Don't you dare!
Bang5luts · 46-50, M
Gunfinger you have beaten it! They say addiction to tobacco is worse than heroin. I'm quitting. Don't give in!
Bang5luts · 46-50, M
You don't need it! No one does!
Bang5luts · 46-50, M
Cut an onion, (if you aren't allergic) and smell it (after 15 seconds) or smell an ashtray. You'll remember why you hate it
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@1169150,Bang5luts] i will do that. Thanks.
Bang5luts · 46-50, M
[@352154,GunFinger] you're welcome. 😇
KimMuhFknKim86 · 31-35, F
No but I'm on my last pack now I'm thinking about quitting
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@1074616,KimMuhFknKim86] tell me if it feels good to quit. If it does I won't start again.
KimMuhFknKim86 · 31-35, F
[@352154,GunFinger] I definitely will
No, not even one

Does it feel good?
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@776292,BeefySenpie] it did feel good.
LongGameGal · 36-40, F
I have started and stopped many times. Stress and being around other smokers is a trigger. But I'm doing pretty well right now 😬😁
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@1127698,LongGameGal] good for you. Stress is number one for me.
Coldplay · 56-60, M
Get that exercise. Don’t go back to smoking! You will feel better!
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@1185249,Coldplay] i will. Thank you.🤗
Aboomachu · 31-35, M
Yeah, I quit for about 4 or 5 days and then I make excuses up in my head to buy more. I bought pack last night irrationally
GunFinger · 41-45, F
[@597698,wildbill83] i hope you've quit for good.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
[@352154,GunFinger] switched to a vape 2 or 3 years ago

Degbeme · 61-69, M
