Something strange happened while I was driving, and it’s something I don’t understand...

I was driving to the next city to shop and driving on a rural road through mostly farm area. About a mile ahead I see a light-color cloud of smoke close to the ground, it had a bit of a. Yellowish tint to it. I thought I’d have to detour, I turned off the a/c because I didn’t want smoke to get into the car. I approached it & then it was gone as I got near. I looked over & couldn’t see where it went & looked up on the power line...there was a red-tail hawk with it’s wings out and one slightly bent. It looked like it went through something & was trying to recover. We had storms that ended about an hour and a hour before so whatever the “smoke” was shouldn’t have been a grass fire. And I don’t understand how it could just vanish like that. This is in the area where I have witnessed some strange things, sometimes think of a certain animal & will see them really soon as I am driving by.
