Please be careful what your dog might find and eat

Yesterday Benny, a 2-year-old dog that lives here in Alameda, ate a cupcake out of the compost that contained xylitol and passed away
Dan193 · 31-35, M
really? what did that cupcake have? I used to give candy to my dog when I was younger - she was ok
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@Dan193 i will talk with her
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@mrmoose they also have canned in that brand
Dan193 · 31-35, M
@mrmoose Yes canned. I think it used to be always canned in the past, now they just put it in packets. But that's the one, right.

Sad...I hear xylitol warnings for pets with every recipe, and honestly haven't used it in cooking because of that. They say if you were to drop something made with it on the kitchen floor, even some batter it could kill a pet.

@cherokeepatti @cherokeepatti indeed, very bad for pets
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@mrmoose I think I'll use my bag of xylitol for homemade mouthwash, add some mint flavor and not bake with it.
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@cherokeepatti probably safer

Poor Benny.
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@SW-User yes, the owners are heart broken
labsrock · M
I'm heart broken for them. That's so sad
labsrock · M
@mrmoose Completely preventable, that's why it's so sad
mrmoose · 70-79, M
@labsrock puppies are much like children, will eat things not good for them, so we have to watch over and be careful
labsrock · M
@mrmoose Asolutely. I'm very cautious with my guys
