I Hate Racism and Discrimination

I hate it when certain knuckleheads get offended when I speak in a foreign language and demand me to speak in their language. I was not even talking to them!😡

Being multilingual isn’t something that should be mocked or derided; it should be aspired to. What irks me is when I hear someone mock a person’s accent when speaking English as a second or third language. I want to say to that person, “Ok genius, how many different languages do you know?”

@SW-User I wish every people thought the same way

I think that people who live in culturally rich areas or who have travelled extensively think this way. It’s the people who never get exposed to other cultures and languages who seem to be most intimidated by them. The person who confronted you is probably just ignorant as a result of living a rather narrow and isolated existence. @JBird

You have every right to speak your language or any language you’re comfortable with. We all know English was not this country’s first language since this land belongs to the natives.

Don’t listen to those assholes.

@Asm0deus not just in America. I know three Indian languages including Hindi. There's a notion in India that a true Indian should only speak Hindi. But the truth is Hindi is not purely Indian as it is derived from Urdu and Arabic. The other two languages are indigenous and unfortunately spoken by few in the country. Hindi speaking people get the same reaction whenever someone speak anything other than Hindi or English. This mentality is almost everywhere and disgusting.
I grew up bilingual but many didn’t know it because I was taught that it was impolite to not speak English around English-speakers. It was a different time. Now there’s a resurgence of xenophobia, and the old paranoias that someone might be plotting something is back. 🙄
