I Hate Racism and Discrimination

So I have to talk about politics in this group. I'm in a lot of Democratic and anti republican facebook groups that are dominated by Progressive activist and one of the things that gets me is every so often a Republican supporter will show up and start engaging with us and imply the Democratic party is the REAL racist party and the REAL party of the KKK and talk about Lincoln and how 100 years ago the Democrats opposed Lincoln and supported The KKK and slavery.

It's true. The democratic party used to be the home of white supremacist but the parties are not unchanging monoliths. In 2008 we voted for a Black man for President but that's not where it started.

I voted for John Kerry, and Barack Obama.

So I just wanted to ask some critical thinking questions of you if you think the Democratic party is racist.

if the democrats are the home of the KKK why Did David Duke the former head of the KKK run as a Republican?

if racism is so popular in the Democratic party today, why do White supremacist run as Republicans?

if MODERN Democrats are the party of racism why do literal neonazis run as Republicans?

Why does it seem that the Republican party has a bigger Racism problem than the Democratic party?

if the Democrats are Racist why was the south of this country solidly democratic until desegregation and the Civil rights act of 1968

if Democrats are so racist Why Did White voters in the south Flee the Democratic party and reregister as Republicans after the Civil rights act?

Why Do white supremacist feel more at home in the Republican party than the Democratic party?

Why did Trent lott praise Strom thurmond?

Why do all the segregationist vote republican today?

@hunkalove I think you are race-obsessive. Neither party is racist in the correct meaning of the word. It's now a catch-all for to stifle debate. In fact it can be argued that, in selecting an unknown, grossly inexperienced man as presidential candidate because he was half black, was hot on teleprompter rhetoric, the democrats were racist. Democratic-leaning institutions of learning are notoriously racist, discriminating against better qualified asian applicants. I am not being critical - just pointing out that racism exists everywhere. It's adverse discrimination on grounds of race that is wrong.

Human beings are fundamentally tribal. They are instantly and acutely aware of differences. Meet someone new - you are instantly aware if they are yellow, brown, black, or pinko-grey. It's foolish to pretend one side of politics has all the virtue or all the vices on their side.
