Wow, that's really spooky!

@NotJamieM [c=004A59]I was a bit freaked by it.[/c]

@SW-User I don't know why my comment went up here instead of in the original thread, too. I'd have likely been freaked even before I read the newspaper, and much more afterwards. I find I forget most dreams. The only ones that stick at all are the really scary ones, sad ones (like someone dying), and the good old embarrassing kind (stuck somewhere without clothes, etc). But the scariest stay with me longest.

@NotJamieM [c=004A59]I've gotten used to it, because I have predictive dreams and visions often enough that I'm now more curious than creeped out. I'd like to know what's causing these phenomena and what they mean, if anything.[/c]

@SW-User so you're regularly seeing things before they happen? I've never had anything like that, not that I remember anyway. Though I have heard that there's a ton of dreaming that we have no recollection of at all, so who knows what goes in then. We could even be talking to each other and never remember it, lol. The scariest dream I ever have, I'm pretty sure I die in it, because I always wake up at the same point and clearly remember it. (I've always heard you aren't able to die in a dream, but someone told me here that they've died in their dreams many times. I don't think I ever have). So I hope that one isn't predictive!

@NotJamieM [c=004A59]I wouldn't say I'm seeing things before they happen on a regular basis. It's happened a few times per year over the past 15 years, but hardly ever before that, which I think is strange. All my life I've had technicolor dreams though.

You've died in a dream?

That's unusual, I've heard. It's happened to me twice. [/c]
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User no, I've never actually died in a dream. In a particular recurring dream I have a few times a year, I always wake up at a particular point and I'm pretty convinced that I was about to die in that dream. Basically I'm in my room and there's a sort of disturbance in a corner. It's shifting colors and also kinda looks like an old tv on a bad channel, just like something's not right with the air. I'm afraid of it but want to protect everyone else here, so I stead of running I move towards it. Just as I'm stepping into the disturbed area, I wake up. Vague, but very creepy.

Another user on here told me they die in their dreams a lot. First time I ever heard that.

@NotJamieM [c=004A59]Someone told you they die in their dreams [i]a lot???[i] Wow. That must be strange.

I'm intrigued by what you said about what appears to be an old TV in the corner of your room. When I saw the angelic looking apparition as a kid, there was an old TV in my room, which had once belonged to my parents. I suspect it may have been on some nights when I fell asleep and it turned to white noise...maybe I was haunted by the TV. 😄[/c]
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User yeah, that's what they said.

It isn't actually an old tv, what I meant is there's a disturbance that kind of reminds me of the screen on an old tv that you have on a scrambled channel, back before cable. But it's darker, and shapeless. Almost like an electrical type disturbance, but creepier. It's really hard to describe it.

But by the way, when I saw the thing in my room, I DID at that time have my family's original black and white TV -very old by then - in there. 😨
SW-User
@NotJamieM [c=004A59]I think I get what you mean by the electrical disturbance...that would scare me more than an apparition. And you have that dream several times a year? Yikes.

I have often heard that we shouldn't be sleeping in the same room with electronics. [/c]
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User I think I got that message from the original Poltergeist, lol.

And yeah, I'm probably overdue for it...

@NotJamieM [c=004A59]There's more truth to some of those old movies than we thought.[/c]
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User I hate to admit it because it makes me older than I like to convince myself that I am, but I saw that one in the theater when it first came out. It scared the crap out if me!

It's definitely a weird coincidence that we both had old TVs in our room at the time, though.
SW-User
@NotJamieM [c=004A59]I don't believe in coincidences -- less and less every day. I'm sure there's a connection between the TVs and the apparitions.

I saw Poltergeist for the first time on cable, not long after it came out in the theatre. I was home alone after a bad day at work, the rest of the family having gone to a church supper. I remember it well. I was so stressed I wrote a terrible poem about it.[/c]
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User Poltergeist probably freaked me out more than any movie I've seen since. I think it was the first horror movie I ever saw, and it was in a dark theatre. But I think also the whole premise seemed a lit more like something that might actually happen than most movies.
SW-User
@NotJamieM [c=004A59]The concept of dream come true (new house for example) turning into a nightmare is what causes the lasting impression for a lot of us. At the time I saw the movie, I had a job that was changing from high hopes to disaster.[/c]
NotJamieM · 46-50, M
@SW-User I can definitely see that. I think I was more impacted by the feasibility of the paranormal part of it and that the family just stumbled on it in their own home. I've seen a ton of movies about mutants welding chainsaws that get anyone coming into the woods, but that never gave me pause to hike deep into the woods or up a mountain by myself. The concept of it coming for you at home was a bit more disturbing, lol
