Did I do the right thing?

My oldest sons coach of 4 years (football) is my younger sons coach this year for flag football.

He asked us if our oldest was going to play tackle this season?
I replied I don't think so. He doesn't want to.
My son was a bit embarrassed- he had to then admit he wasn't sure if he wanted to play or not and explain why lol
He was a bit upset with me because I didn't cover up for him lol

But he'll be 11 soon he needs to own up and admit to making his own decisions.
Obviously I want him to play if not tackle football- any other sport of his choosing...

Apart of growing up is making your own decisions. He shouldn't feel he needs to cover for them either.

That said he's young. Maybe to young to understand this. His entire life revolves around being what is cool. Not being himself.

whatever you do, if you do it for his good he'll appreciate it sooner or later. you did what you considered best and in the worst case he will learn from it.

You did good. The job of a parent is to guide our children into adulthood.
