Why did my dad make me talk to this girl? He said he stopped me from going into my room on purpose (blunt answers)? My dad always does this to me.

My dad knows I stay in my room and I'm very depressed since mom abandoned is and he is fed up and refuse to go places and that's why my aunt comes over sometimes to get me out of the house so I won't be with in a house of men. I like being depressed and in my room. He said I shouldn't waste my life especially teen years moping around the house and I need to get out and have fun. Even my friends tried to get me out of the house. So a couples as I was going to my room my dad stopped me. The girl my oldest brother tried to introduce me too that has no friends, I had no interest. She followed me and so my dad was teasing her a little bit (in a humorous friendly way) and told her what I was. My dad said, "Get to know her. Talk to her. I'm not just going to have you sit in your room all day."
I was like, "But Dad..." Then he said, "TALK TO HER. That's final."
So I ended up talking to her and suprisingly we had a lot of common and I enjoyed myself. She had the same issues I have.
My dad was like, "Well it looks like you made a new friend. Earlier when I was teasing her and stopped you from going to your room, I did that on purpose. Yes that's right. I did that on purpose so you can get our of that depression and COMMUNICATE with people. Get out of that room. I wanted you to talk to her. That's why I did that."
My dad always does this. He always does stuff on purpose. I was upset at first, but I guess this was a good purpose. Has your parents did things on purpose to get you to do things? This has been stuck in my head for a while. At least he was honest.
