Do you know any parents who've actually "cancelled Christmas" as a form of discipline for their children?

I've heard of some threatening their children with this form of discipline as motivation for improved academic performance from their children. But it always seemed more like a wives' tale than something people actually did. Ever witnessed this?

No but as a kid I knew a family and the mother told me that they became Jehovah witness's because they had a big family and didn't want to celebrate Christmas. It always struck me as an odd thing to say or do.
