I Support the Spread of Christianity

I had recently stepped down from pastoring a church and went to a different church that I knew very little about. I attended every week and contributed bits and pieces in the weekly Sunday School. At the end of the first month the elderly pastor came to me and said I see you are a very Spiritual man. Would you like to deliver the sermon next week. I kind of gulped and agreed. I went home to begin preparing. It was getting close to Resurrection Sunday so I decided to preach on the sufferings of Christ. I spent all week at the computer typing and retyping what I thought the LORD would want me to say. I drove my Dear Wife insane because I would type late into the night going to bed for a few hours then typing some more. Finally the Sunday arrived and I stood behind the pulpit. I have no idea why but I was shaking like a leave as I began. Suddenly the nervousness left me and I spoke without hesitation or fear. As I got close to the end of the sermon people began to come to the altar for prayer. I continued to speak and more people came. I was a bit perplexed. Do I end now or do I continue until the end? I continued and before I finished everyone in the church including the elderly pastor was kneeling at the altar deep in prayer.

@ThatCommieChick Well you see you don't have the key to interpreting Scripture. You are trying to understand with your human mind what can only be understood with the Spirit which you don't have. The fact is that from the earliest times of the Church there were people with wealth. The Church did not expect them to renounce their wealth and become impoverished. The Church expected them to be generous to those around them. However the difficulty you seem to be having, beyond not having the Spirit is you fail to differentiate between having wealth and fixating on wealth. The fact is your fixation on wealth is likely worse than a rich Christian who is focused on spreading the gospel with his wealth. I know a guy who builds Churches in poorer countries. He has a very successful business in Canada that generates a lot of wealth. He has hired the best people he can to run the company but he is often in South America or Africa building churches with the money his company generates.
