I Support the Spread of Christianity

A number of years ago a middle aged woman wandered in to my Sunday school class and took a prominent seat near me. We made introductions and she said that she wasn't a Christian but was into spiritual experiences. She had been to Tibet and seen the Buddhist prayer wheels spinning and she was truly moved. Her next exploration was Christianity. She sat through the lesson and the service then showed up the next week. Similar to the first week she listened attentively and asked polite if misguided questions one might expect from a non believer. After the third week I decided I would write her a personal letter explaining the Gospel message. I spent all week writing it staying up until 2 or 3 in the morning getting the message just right. As we met for the next class I slipped her the note and she proudly showed the class that the teacher had given her a 4 page letter. We waited a few minutes for the rest of the class to show up and the woman read the letter. About the second page in the woman let out an ear shattering shriek, threw the letter across the table and ran out of the class never to return. All these years later I still wonder what it was that so pierced her soul.
Any chance you still have that later? I'm so curious about what you wrote.

@GoodCatholicGirl Sorry no I don't. It was quite a few years ago. I do remember when I was writing it I was trying to be as nice as possible and keeping things really simple so she could understand. I certainly never meant to hurt her or her feelings.
@hippyjoe1955 Sometimes we can be nice as possible, and the people we're witnessing to will still get angry. Sounds like you did your best.

@GoodCatholicGirl I believe I did what the Lord intended me to do. I have had enough experiences where the Lord used me in similar ways to know what this was. Without speaking any ill of her whatsoever she was what I call a grazer. She doesn't want to get to the heart of any religion but thinks that a broad minded approach to all religions shows she is a good person. However she discovered that Christianity has teeth and when the Spirit moves you either join or run. She chose to run. I suspect that she might have had a change of heart later but at that moment the Spirit was overwhelming her sense of being.

Theres power in the Gospel. Its pieces the soul even to the dividing asunder.

Do you remember what part of the letter she was at?

@Jasondf About the second page about 1/2 way down.
