Coast Guard: How long after MEPS until you leave for basic?

So I have turned in all my paperwork and am waiting for my recruiter to give me a MEPS date, he said it should be around the end of January. How long after MEPS do you leave for basic in the Coast Guard? I'm wanting to leave as soon as possible and I know other branches have a direct ship??? Meaning they leave for basic right after MEPS? Does the Coast Guard do that too or am I gonna have to wait a few months?

@Crazywaterspring Make sure any legal problems (warrants, etc) are cleared up. They check that and will call the cops if anything comes up.

@Crazywaterspring oh that's probably why you were with one of the biggest branches. CG has a total of like 42,000 members so they train a lot less people. I have yet to really get an "official" meps date either and last time I talked to him he said meps was backed up and to check back in a week and that was on Wednesday.

@SW-User I woulda loved to go to the academy but wouldn't have been able to get in 😕 I do have 41 college credits and after 4 years of active service can apply to OCS 😊 Is your son trying to be a pilot by any chance?
