Why Do So Many People Fail Out Of ND Training?

So I'm about to enlist in the navy and get in writing into my contract to be a ND. So I've heard they have like an 80% dropout rate? Why do so many people fail out of the training? Is it that mentally and/or physically challenging? Or do a lot of people fail out because of not being confident enough in the water? (Which I guess would be mentally/psychological?)

Diving is hard work !
It's physically tiring and mentally challenging.
Not only do you need the physical capabilities, you'll also need the mental and emotional ones too !

Ever see the movie Men of honour ?
Cuba Gooding jnr plays Carl Brashear. The first African American admitted and trained to the level of Master Chief.

You have to know a lot of biology and chemistry before you even go near a pool !!

@Picklebobble2 in a trained scuba diver already. Been certified twice (one was through uni and was just a beginner class but it was the only diving class not full). I'm comfortable underwater and above it.
