ROTC Options

So I've taken a step to join ROTC and talked to the ROTC teachers yesterday to get some options and stuff about what I should do. They gave me some financial options and showed me how he rest of my college years should go. Basically they talked about the scholarship and ways I can get extra money by contracting and stuff. They also gave me an option with the national guard and said I could go through basic and stuff over the summer and take next fall semester off for other training and then said I'd be back in school by spring of 2019 and I'd get the GI bill and pretty much have my college paid for and I'd be on track to graduate in 2021 instead of 2020. I'm not sure what I should do. Like I don't know how I'd feel about leaving for that long cuz I'd be leaving behind my gf and my family for a while and I'm nervous about leaving school for a semester. Is there anyone who did ROTC who can tell me what they think would be best?
