I Like to Lie Outside and Watch the Stars

I've always been interested by the Universe, but a few years ago, this went up to another level.

For some time, I've been watching a lot of videos about the world we live in. The building blocks of the Universe, the vastness of space.

One day, at a camping trip, I gazed at the stars. It then hit me like a brick wall.

I felt the infinite, the ever stretching of space and time. I could sense vibration of the stars and see black holes. I could feel the mass of the Galaxy, yet feel the emptiness of space.

My eyes were crying, but I wasn't sobbing. I was in a place that I hadn't feel before: a mix of joy anger and love.I felt every moment in the history of that gigantic world we live in. The birth and death of the stars at the same instant.

I could feel myself moving in the Universe, on the ship we call earth. I could feel every particles of my body resonating with the rest of the world and for a glimpse, I was the Universe.

I was shaking of fright, yet I was completely at peace.

The feeling went on for three days, not being able to have a normal conversation.

That is when I decided what I would do with my life: I study astrophysics to become a teacher, and I if I can only help one person to feel what I felt, my life will be complete.

I would lay out in the snow in northern Minnesota on dark, cold, cloudless nights. As close to space as I'll get.
