I Believe The Strong Should Stand Up For The Weak

It's hard to actually see this belief in action, but I experienced it. As a kid in grade school I developed almost crippling social anxiety. As such, social interactions (especially with such...malicious beings..) was not something I typically enjoyed. I tried to say separate, and mostly succeed. Any bullying was from friends, because eventually I would have exploded. Perhaps people saw this heh..or not..but I was spared, except for one instance.

A newcomer to the school singled me out as a good target one day at lunch, but as SOON as it happened (my first contact with a bully) a huge black dude I didn't know particularly well at all immediately stepped in and said "hey man he's cool."

The bully said something like oh...and never troubled me again. Perhaps it would have continued...perhaps I didn't have it in me to explode...but I was saved from knowing that by a kindhearted man who had nothing to win and everything to lose by putting himself out there like that. And I never did thank him...

But now I know it's my turn to give back... And thanks Deshawn.

I totally agree with you. Throughout my experience with bullying, people have singled me out for multiple reasons mainly because I was different on so many levels, providing topics for bullies to pick at. However, now people know I will NOT stand for that shit happening to anyone else so I try to step in wherever I could. Although it's quite hard considering I'm still not taken seriously, just the shy weirdo that occasionally becomes the outspoken bystander willing to interject.
