I Am Triracial

I take the skin of the continents and combine them to get this face. I am from the "unfounded America" the stolen Native land and head dress. To the great European King. To the hot equator days of the African tribes. But I do not take the steps to recognize it... I conform to where I am put. A pale mulatto face with big thick kinky curly hair and a flat nose. Once believed that straightening it out would make me white. That maybe if I emphasize my green eyes a little more I'll look more common among my peers. God how do I fix my nose. "Why couldn't I just be white?" I ask my younger self. "Why couldn't I just be black?" "Why couldn't I just be Native American?" You can not judge someone simply by characteristic and skin tone/color. This is 2016 and there a slave roots in the most unexpected genes. Remember that. Generations after generation are being mixed to create beauty. A beauty that I am still unable to see no help to the world. "White is right" Right? Equality is there on the surface of my pale skin. Once your secret is let loose you are the new white girl among them. The new black girl among the other. The new feather head with the rest. But I am all and I ask you to remember that before you make your jokes that people of only your race/tone/background understand, accept, believe as truth. Please don't cast part of me out. As you are casting out me as a whole.
