Well Randal I never say I am the best at anything
but saving sinking vessels ,I have a few tricks that are not normally used as they are risky and the Coast Guard does not risk lives saving boats ,but
what they did not know didn't hurt them ,I tried to save the vessel too not just the crew .
I was a plaster Apprentice 5 years before I was allowed to pick up a tool other then to clean it ,and trained to do drywall by 2 of the best
I learned I had a natural ability to do wood work as I do playing instrument .
I was hired for a major railroad when I was 21 to train other diesel mechanics and machinists .
I also worked for the Navy building 25 foot surf boats ,a 32 footer and a 65 foot speed boat with 5 engines ,
I rebuild and install custom engines in all types of equipment and for each trade I bought my own tools .
Many times its the tool that makes the difference as to if you get the job done ,or if your work reflects you have skills (a tool that makes it perfect with little effort ,excellent finished product is worth the investment .
And I light up my work ,lots of Halogen lights (they are hot ,but I can deal with heat ,,and engine room is pretty hot LOL,,,
One of the things my Uncle drove home is you can't see your work in the dark ,light it up and see what your missing ,and he was right
So I don't take short cuts ,and I am a perfectionist ,I want it as perfect as a human can get it ,and that's why I never look for a job ,now people call me
but I am not the best ,(but if its washing cars ,building a mansion or playing a dead night in a club for 10 people ,I give my best ,(I do all things to the best of my ability and as if I am doing it for God,He can see half assed LOL )
but saying I am the best at anything ?
that kind of talk only leads to crap talking

If I say I can do the job I can ,and if I say I can't ,trust me I can't .but
I have been blessed to work with some of the best ,I'm still a rookie
they have like 50 yrs experience ,and only an arrogant fool would say that don't mean anything ,,
They can show you that your wrong LOL

@SW-User I have lots of experience ,and now I am confident in the things I do well .
But we can always learn
but I have skills that can keep me alive when all hell breaks lose
they are way more valuable then the stuff I can build or instruments I can play .
My mark is a killer family that loves and respects me ,,even my son in laws call on me when they need help or advice ,so I am more proud of that then all the jobs I have had and companies I have run ,,and my own companies
I have a name to be proud of ,a heritage ,and my family adds to that
the rest is just stuff ,
I like sharing about things I have accomplished because I accomplished most of it with a bad back that would have made many quit ,
So its to encourage ,not to brag ,,there is a difference
I have been blessed to have doors opened to me ,and my stupidity close them
but the wisdom to know when one door closes look for another one to open ,
but I have been blessed to have people in my life who encouraged me ,and taught me by example more then the actual training
you can google my boats ,some of the homes I've built ,the locomotives I've worked on and ran ,,you would know some of the people I have worked for ,maybe even my family name .
But I am most proud of my Children and theirs ,they carry on who I am in them
As I carry on values my Grandpa's and Dad instilled in me ,hopefully they will pass on who I was too ,and my Grandkids are all off to a good start .
My girls did a good job ,they have all made me proud ,now my son hopefully will too ,He seems to be on track ,we will see in a few more years when he becomes a teen ,,,LOL
