Do people who can't respect your boundaries have a place in your life?

HannibalAteMeOut22-25, F Best Comment
I couldn't do something like that to myself.

It depends on why they didn't respect my boundary. They definitely can have a place if they had a good reason for crossing those lines.
I'm forced to put up with it.

You shouldn鈥檛 be forced to.@lovelywarpedlemon
@SW-User I have no choice but to try and distance myself, internally, but everyone is forced to persist with greater forces/powers. This is why societies are societies. Every day we give up freedoms to live in the systems already in place. Most people have their own idea of what the world "should" be, but we compromise. Everyone compromises. Everyone is lesser to someone else, in this system. Our boundaries are constantly being pushed by greater powers. But we compromise. The only other option would be total isolation.
Only those that are immediate family.

they have shown they don't respect me as a person...I don't feel the need to oblige them

Unfortunately yes, for the time being, because I have no real choice but to put up with them. But no longer than I absolutely have to. One day they will get a nasty surprise, when they look and find that I'm gone. I won't have to say a word. My absence (and silence) will speak for itself. But for now I have to keep the peace and try to get along.

No thanks.

Not after a certain point. If they're family and you are dependent you may have to tolerate the interference. But once you are independent you can renegotiate the relationship or even cut ties if necessary.
