Just a thought

One thing i do with my 3 dogs is if i have a variety of treats i will let them pick out the treat they want to eat. They sniff and smell them and make their choice. I also sometimes do this when i have only one variety. Like a sweet potato fry wrapped in duck jerky. They come in all different sizes, and they always pick the bigger of the options, which i found to be neat.

This concludes that my dogs understand size differences or that they are cognizant of not biting my fingers so they take the option easiest to them. A longer sweet potatoe fry means further from my fingers holding it.

The one thing i failed to mention is my chocolate lab is so consumed by the treat that results are mixed with her. Her brain turns completely off and hyperfixated on the treat until all food in a 50 mile radius is consumed.
