Proposed new law in the USA

I propose a law in the USA where you can't run for a new office until you admit defeat in all previous elections that you lost.

You can propose whatever you want, it won't lead anywhere. When a republic is doomed, there's nothing that will help. Just have a look at the fate of the Roman republic.
As soon as a large enough fraction of the population believes in a strongman as their savior, they will do anything, everything, to get Fearless Leader into the most powerful office. When their strongman is formally charged in court, they will claim that the court is biased. Some fanatics will be willing to die for their hero.
Really there's nothing you can do 😐

@helenS Excellent. I thought you might. Masha Gessen is a Russian exile who was persecuted for being gay. She wrote a book called “Surviving Autocracy.” She has the view of Putin and Russia the way an old Soviet dissident might. Applebaum also “gets it.”

@helenS Yeah but Trump's to Caesar pretty much what Mussolini was to Trajan. Once he deflates that whole electorate will most likely deflate with him (/lose interest), fragment, and even deny they supported him in the first place. And nonetheless, as every election since 2016 proven, those who want autocracy are a minority.

@helenS @Bumbles @Elessar As much as you can rightly argue the politics of the problem, at its heart it is a financial issue.. America is a dead blue whale. Alive, too big to fail. But now on life support in the hands of people who dont have its best interests at heart..So no matter which course you follow, no one can pay the bills..😷

That would have to assume that the defeats were legitimate.

IN that instance, Stacy Abrams would be at the top of the list. That spermwhale continues to insist that she didn't lose that election.

Oh, and don't forget the LONG FBI investigation into the RUSSIA RUSSIA RUSSIA nonsense that the left wingers claim got Trump elected.

Trump was legitimately reelected, and that election was stolen.

@jshm2 LOL. Agreed!

Violates the First Amendment

@Bumbles Probably. But you could make it a qualification of candidacy that no candidate can run for office who is actively challenging the results in another election until they relinquish that challenge.

I just don't see how someone like Kari Lake can still be challenging that she is the rightful governor of Arizona while running for senate at the same time.

@trollslayer If the shoe were on the other foot? Maybe…interesting idea.
How about if we just teach in schools....if ur not in office after an election. Guess why? DUH!!!!!

You proposing it won’t accomplish anything. Write to your House representative.

That's a good idea
