Baby name ideas? 👶🏻

My sister is having a baby in a few months. And of course she’s discussed certain names whether it’s a boy or a girl. I want to hear some of your suggestions, for boy or girl, whichever no matter how wild or unusual they may be 😂 Let’s hear them 📋

As a general rule, look at the names that were most popular in the last couple years and steer clear of them. My son was in a grade of like sixty kids with five variations of Sophie!

Verlin or Verlyn, meaning "true" is a boy's name. Short, sweet, and extremely rare!

I'm fond of Roman history, and there are some great names to mine there. Some may have come from old names of the month: Quintus, Sextus, Septimus, Octavius, (those are the masculine forms; replace 'us' with 'a' for the feminine.) No, don't name a daughter Sexta!

Some girl names from Ancient Rome: Lucia, Gaia, Marcia, Publia, Paulla, Quinta, Titia, Tiberia. Again you can swap 'a' for 'us' to get the masculine forms. Beware, Tiberius was a lousy emperor.

Cicero, Cato, and Julius were great orators. Sulla, Scipio, and Trajan were great generals. Augustus and Hadrian were great emperors (Yo, Hadrian).

@Ashly My pleasure! My wife & had the fun of picking two names a while back and I still enjoy the topic. Some of the funny suggestions that came our way: "Professor," (from a fellow grad student) "Agamemnon," (the King of Men) and "Tecumseh." In the book "Catch 22" there is a soldier named "Major Major" who is rapidly promoted to the rank of Major due to a bureaucratic slip-up!

I now have a copy! Someone in my family had one years ago and I always thought it was fun, so I got a secondhand copy.

When we were expecting our second, I was really wanting the name Quinn for a boy. Just thought it would be neat to call him "Q". Anyways, it was a girl so my wife and I didn't have to battle that.
