Why do some of the most intelligent, kind and attractive people get bullied?

I don't need a lecture like I'm a ding dong, just curious about different perspectives.

I was bullied hard as a kid. I'm kinda sick of hearing it's because I was too nice, or I didn't fight back... It ultimately wasn't about me really... I feel like that's just some shit bullies say.

I want to know why the bullies did it, without blaming the ones who get bullied.

It's always someone who sticks out. Either considered too good looking (envy) or too bad looking ("omg, you offend my fragile sense of aesthetics"), too smart ("show off") or not that sharp ("we can get away with it, they won't defend themselves"), too proactive and ambitious (show off) or too asocial and distant ("that's suspicious, he/she must be creep").

@CrazyMusicLover Agreed. But I still wonder how people make that call. What in their minds makes them want to hurt someone else.

@SW-User I don't know either, I just guess that they want to demonstrate their power because they feel powerless and insecure in some aspect of their life. I believe that a person who is satisfied and at peace with themselves and the world around doesn't need to attack others.
