Somebody/ Anybody, PLEASE help me make sense of this. Joe Biden calling Trump voters "garbage" is a big deal.

Hilary Clinton calling them "Deplorable" was a big deal. But trump saying people who commit those apparently unforgivable sins of thinking for themselves and not worshipping him should be rounded up and shot is not a big deal?!
