@Adstar The Nazis were against Democracy, which is necessary for Socialism. They also didn't decommodify essential services, rather they let the market handle pretty much everything. On a scale of Capitalism to Socialism, the Nazis were more capitalist than both the German Empire and the Weimar Republic.

Once socialist come into power and change the economic system they cannot allow an opposition party to come into power because allowing that kind of democracy would see the dismantling of their system.. The countries people always point to as examples of Socialism failing are always countries that never stopped being capitalist, they just started calling themselves socialist. The Soviet Union never had democratic control of the government and the workplace, the Bolsheviks were always Authoritarians who just used leftist imagery and called themselves "Socialists."


Yes, but that was a lie. Marx's concept of the "Dictatorship of the Proletariat" referred to Democracy. Remember, the Proletariat is the working-class, which is like 99% of the population. You can't have Socialism without Democracy. But like the Nazis and the Maoists, the Bolsheviks just lied and said their system was socialist.

For it to be socialist, it needs to have had democratic control of the means of production, and it needs to have had essential services be free or at least very affordable. If it didn't have those two things, then it wasn't socialist.
