Do you own or rent your home?

Is your mortgage paid up, or are you ever-worried about the economic variances, a volatile market causes? Do you rent from your municipal government or a private landlord?

10 years left on my mortgage
@FreeSpirit1 in a few months we'll be paying school tax on schools we'll never use again. it's forcing seniors to sell their homes and move to states with less taxes

I own my home but I still have a mortgage

Owned since 1980.
Rent, from a private landlord with rent control set by a provincial government (by law and the current government would love to make that outlandish, but they know they would be ruining a large minority of votes). I have the market volatilities of the grocery store, gas, and here in North America wants to say, the landlord wants their profit pinned to cost of living while their mortgage retained their interest rate for as long as the mortgage wants, and they might as well as say, I need the government to let me gouge my tenants while I have an investment and I can't help myself from saying I need more profit.
own but the property taxes are just like a mortgage

I own my home and it has a mortgage and due to fluctuations in interest rates, my end date is beyond my retirement date. So, I am indeed worried. 😟

I own my home and will have it paid off in 4 years. I am not worried about the economic variances either.

@Workerbee yeah. Getting into your first home is the hardest part. After that, selling and moving and buying another gets much easier because you generally gain that equity windfall at closing, so you're ready for your next down payment.

@Workerbee I bought my house before houses were really expensive. You won’t believe this but I paid $41,500 for it.

It was 2 bedrooms 1 bath when I bought it. It now has a Master bedroom that’s the top floor of the house, 3 bedrooms and 2 and a half bathrooms. There’s also a rec room in the basement. Even with all the upgrades I only paid $78,000 but now it’s worth $255,000 when it was appraised 7 years ago and it’s worth more now.
