Do you know phone numbers off the top of your head??

@tenente he’s right !

GlitterEater · 36-40, F
A bunch of them. I remember my high school best friends' numbers still.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@GlitterEater you’re like a phone book
DrWatson · 70-79, M
@GlitterEater I can't even remember my own family's phone number from High School!
KiwiBird · 36-40, F
I remember my childhood landline number in NZ.
My work mobile and my mobile.

I have a backup of my two mobiles on my PC and Laptop as well as on a USB.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@KiwiBird ooo Miss Tech over here
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
Thank goodness for auto dial 😬😬

dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@GLITTER @TrunkZ The rotary complicated things so much. Two longs and a short on the crank was easy to remember.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
@dancingtongue Are we still discussing telephones? 😏😏😅😅
dancingtongue · 80-89, M
@TrunkZ Yep. The original ones hung on the wall and had a crank instead of a rotary dial. If the person you were calling was on the same system, you could "call" using the assigned combination of long and short cranks. Otherwise you had to go through a switchboard and request who you wanted.

BTW, it has taken me two years to memorize my cellphone number after cutting the landline. I'm fairly confident I have it now, but still hesitate every time someone asks for it.
Gangstress · 41-45, F
I know yours, mums, mum and dads yard, your mums landline
Paulines and mine
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@Gangstress I was okay until Pauline changed her number lol
Gangstress · 41-45, F
@GLITTER its really easy lol
helenS · 36-40, F
Only my own landline number, and those of my sister and my parents.
Cell phone numbers are something like
53301819876796230107577358199316210271011305990402056573189653054893452057695286327550566601846430773048614817671269855962677555615938763462781345931221454972354727147728343179110092481399156484
and I refuse to memorize that....
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@helenS don’t give my number away like that
DrWatson · 70-79, M
I know mine, my wife's, our landline, and my office phone. That's it.
@DrWatson That’s still impressive. I know folks who forgot their own numbers once they got a cell phone, and have to look it up ("I don’t call myself !") 😅
Cassieeeee · 31-35, F
I barely remember my own phone number 🥲
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@Cassieeeee enter your mind palace and get back to me
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
I did before I owned a cell phone.
Harmonium1923 · 51-55, M
@Jenny1234 I was just thinking the same thing.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Phone numbers, drivers license number, social security number, even old addresses with ZIP codes.
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GLITTER just made a purchase over the phone for more data. They asked me for the last four of my credit card number which was on file on their system. Didn't even need to look it up. 🤷🏻‍♂️
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@DeWayfarer I still can’t remember my credit card number lol
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
@GLITTER you know what is handy here in the USA? Knowing the numbers in other languages. Here restaurants have pass codes on restrooms. Yet sometimes the workers will say the codes in another language to others.

I understand Spanish a bit! So I not only know the pass code to the restroom, yet as well to their own work area! 🤣

I can't help it? 🤷🏻‍♂️ How do you not listen, when it's said to be heard?
Ambroseguy80 · 56-60, M
I actually do know the important ones off the top of my head. Family members, doctors, my childhood phone number and address even though neither apply anymore. It’s cool shit.
GLITTER · 36-40, F
@Ambroseguy80 our brains like us
I know my first mobile phone number, my late mother's landline number, the emergency number, the non-emergency number, The Samaritans number and the number for NHS direct.
