Nervous day at work

Today at work I was troubleshooting a clients device and I messed up something making the client get charged for something he shouldn’t have and I got reprimanded.

I’m still new with the company but I apologized and my mentor just kept hounding me to make sure I read/follow instructions more clear.

I’m new but I don’t want to be let go from messing up but it’s bound to happen when you first start anything new. He said this isn’t fire worthy but I need to follow instructions better next time. I’m anxious to go into work tomorrow I don’t want my anxiety of today to carry on tomorrow.

Any advice on how to not fester up my anxiety and feelings, and just learn and move on?

You need to find a hobby that takes your focus off work, like playing an instrument or doing a physical activity like swimming, do something you enjoy and know that not every day is the same go in with hope that tomorrow will be a better day and take a few minutes more to complete the tasks check before you hit the button that way you wont be hitting the panic button and over time you will gain more confidence, but dont over think things either. 😊 smile and have a good day or in the words of free guy dont have a good day have a great day.
@fionawill Good advise here. Smile is your best defence.

He reprimanded and you apologized, if he's even a halfway decent mentor, he just moves on. No one is perfect, and we ALL make mistakes occasionally, especially when you're new at the job. All you can do is remember the mistake, don't dwell on it, and move on too, you will make more mistakes, just try to be attentive and minimize the number of mistakes you make. If the company is a decent one, they removed the additional charge to the customer and apologized for the error.
Your mentor is at fault, not you. He needs to get a life. Work is just work, it is not life.

When he tells you off again, just think of the money you are earning. Apologise. You don’t have to mean it.
Deep breaths and a positive focus. Step away for a moment and reevaluate. Slowly everything will become more clearer. Just be good to yourself you deserve it

I’ve gone weeks, where it just feels like this line of work isn’t for me anymore, but I know it’s my frustration talking. Bad days will happen. You just have to tell yourself “Do the next right thing” and try again… you’ll forget about yesterday soon. Don’t give up

I think it’s awesome you care about doing a good job this much 💞

Just take a breathe and learn from your mistakes. Your right. It happens. Its a learning experience. Just stay focused on your work and try to let it go. Tomorrow might be a better day.

Most easiest and simplest thing you can say, "hey just wanted to say I apologize for that mistake earlier"

I've found that if you're honest about things, typically everything will be okay. It's when you make a mistake and try to hide it that can really get you into big trouble.

I’m literally in the same position as you but haven’t experienced what you have. I don’t think or bother myself about work outside work

Get a good night sleep and when you feel it coming on breath in through your nose and out through your mouth
