Love takes time... (I wrote he because I date mostly men, not generalizing or picking)

Maybe I'm a slow poke, but I'm so confused how people fall (or seem to fall) in love so quickly.

I've heard it a million times and within weeks of meeting...

"I'm falling for you already"
"I'd marry someone like you"
"You got me sprung"
"You're end game"
"I think I love you"

First off, how the fuck do people have those kinds of feelings after days?? How do you tell someone you know nothing about that you love them?

Which leads to secondly, why am I expected to believe them? Because every time it goes like that, he ends up being a user and/or a psycho. It seems to last about a few months. Right about the time I'm getting warmed up and starting to trust, he starts freaking out. I've heard it all tbh. That I'm a liar, cheater, fake, selfish, narcissist, bitch. All because I didn't follow his schedule?

Or what? What is it?

You can tell when he's full of shit, but I've known some to start putting their eggs in my basket after one date. Even well meaning, that's FAST.

Am I just slow?

Is this why I can't find a partner? Because I can't fall in love on the first date? Because by the eigth date the facade is over and he's being a dick, and I'm not okay with that?

Or is this how we date now? Love bombing and running through each other so fast?

I just can't wrap my head around any of it.

Once upon a time my mom went to church. I was a kid & barely was allowed to see her again so I went with her. One day in service the pastor talked about love. He talked about how you either love somebody for what they can do for you (which isn't real love)... or you love them for what you could do for them.
You gotta ask yourself why you love the person. Do you love them for how they make you feel... or do you love them because of how you wanna make them feel.

Thinking about that has always helped me determine whether I really loved somebody or not. & It's also helped me determined if people love me or not. Because you gotta ask yourself why they love you. Don't ask them, ask yourself & actually look at what you bring to the table & what they bring.
If they ain't bringing shit then 10 times outta 10, they're not in it for you. They're in it for themselves

@ChiefWalksWith40oz Damn, thank you. This 💯 what I needed to know.

And it makes sense of why so hard and fast. They're trying to latch on and lock in what they can get from you...

Damn dude thank you 🥹

@ChiefWalksWith40oz I love that

You are smart to be slow ...

This condition usually effects young dudes the most , but it seems quite clear , men don't end up growing up ...

"One condition, emophilia, is the tendency to fall in love quickly and often. Emophiles prematurely overcommit to romantic relationships at a young age, which detrimentally impacts their ability to develop a self-identity through fulfilling their educational/career goals.Apr 14, 2023"

It's really a lack of maturity falling in love to quick ... Not realizing that when someone throws attention at you , your brain rewires itself .....

On personal level... Myself,, . 'I know I need to grow up.'

@BobbyMoeven That sounds awful and confusing. Maybe I didn't notice when I was younger?

@AlchemyFox

I wouldn't expect anybody young to see it ...

Your hormones have you by the prebuscent balls (vag). ..when you are really young ...

Our bodies can be our own worst enemies at making rash decisions ..

It’s not true love when it happens quickly. That’s lust or just puppy love. The truest love takes years to really happen and it keeps evolving from there

@Jenny1234 Indeed. Lust and infatuation happens fast, love takes time.

There is nothing wrong with your view. No you are not slow, you are wise.
So you have dated women?
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
It’s love bombing for sure, real love takes time and depth.

I have been told the same too. Thats list, not love. People like that don’t understand what love really is. How can you say you love someone after a few days/weeks.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@AlchemyFox Well in that case that’s good cause you’re not wasting all that time. Some women live for that phase though and those kind of men can’t keep that up forever.

You don’t BS though so it wouldn’t last long.
AlchemyFox · 36-40, F
@iamonfire696 They get scary and mean though. I wish there was a way to avoid men like that without avoiding them all.
