Should we have a November voting holiday every 4 years?

Who in the government is fighting FOR this? and AGAINST this?
We need to get away from the electronic voting machines - they are web enabled machines secured with administrative passwords like "password." Anyone claiming these machines are secure are liars.

All states should mandate improvements to voter registration maintenance. At any given time, 12%-13% of registrations are invalid. Extra registrations mean extra mail-in ballots.

People should vote in person on paper ballots after they've presented a valid photo ID that can be cross referenced against their registration. Mail in ballots are the exception for those unable to vote in person.

Not much sense to it. People who actually vote will do so with or without a holiday. People who don't will just use it as a day to party or relax and ignore voting. Vote-by-Mail is much better -- it can't be interfered with in the way the GOP has announced it will try to interfere with polling sites this coming election, and it provides actual paper ballots to check.

Or we could go with the method used in some countries -- a monetary fine for citizens who don't go and vote.

@NativePortlander1970 According to Trumpers, yes -- according to very independent investigation, none. Even GOP-run investigations have concluded there is hardly any voter fraud in our elections.
@ChipmunkErnie Take your pick

@NativePortlander1970 Hanging chads destroyed more votes in one hour than every rogue mailman ever. AND, where I live at least, your mail-in ballot is tracked by the State Board of Elections and you receive e-mail notifications of its status every step of the way -- when it arrives, when its been verified, when it's been counted.

Yes, it should be a holiday because more Republicans work than do democrats.

I am not opposed to a voting holiday. Makes more sense than some holidays. My problem is that the majority of the people don't care about voting and are not well informed voters. That is why we have the crooks we have running the country and I'm not referring to just the white house. I think term limits on the house and Senate would do more good.

Why can’t we vote by mobile,
if it was rebustly monitored to avoid multiple votes by the same person,
could use drivers license & passport data etc.
@Fentonisfree Because that software could be deliberately corrupted by the coders.

Yes election day should be a federal holiday every year, as you have elevations every year (even if it might only be local and only in some states.

Why not voting on a Sunday?
DogMan · 61-69, M
@helenS That would be fine too. But I think a holiday would get more working
people to vote. Not sure if that would benefit both parties the same, or not.
WandererTony · 56-60, M
@helenS In my country, the party that proposes to ruin your Sunday - loses. Simple 😄
@helenS because government is not open to the public on the weekends, so has to be during the week

And in the USA it's always a Tuesday
Yes, election day should definitely be a day off from school and work.
It's law in many countries, why not the US?
@NativePortlander1970 Doesn't freedom include the right to NOT vote?
@independentone No vote, no voice
@NativePortlander1970 Voting is pointless, at least until they get rid of the electoral college. Elections really should be by popular vote.
