When is the best time of day to water your lawn?

smiler2012 · 56-60
@Thevy29 🤔they always say earlier in the morning the better before the sun has time too dry it out

Is it t keep the grass gŕeen n lush? Probably after 6pm as the sun is settling and keeps the water from soaking up. This logic is same as for watering flowers.

@Sazzio Less evaporation at that time. Lets the water soak in.

Best in the cooler parts of the day. However I'm a shift worker (without a meter) so it gets watered anytime of day and is always green.

When its not raining
Early in the morning and evening, especially before it gets too hot

About 10:45 pm when getting home from the pub.

When the Good Lord above or that Weather witch Mother Nature makes it rain, outside of that I could careless how green the grass gets. That just means more push mowing for me if it does.

Now a vegetable garden is worth the watering and in the evenings before dark if needed.

It's actually a bad idea to water your lawn if you use city water. This is because city water contains chlorine and chlorine will kill the bacteria your lawn needs for composting grass clippings. Chlorine will kill earth worms as well. Without worms, your lawn will eventually turn to desert soil. Keep the grass cut long (like 3 to 4 inches) during summer and don't water your lawn ever.
